A renovation of the parents’ residence situated adjacent to the House in Nakago. The design features a large window facing a shared garden, oriented toward the low-slung pyramidal roof of the neighboring house. This roof acts as a mountain-like element, shielding the interior from outside views while reflecting light into the space. By raising the floor near the window by 450mm to create a platform, the design encourages activities directed toward the shared garden. This elevation also allows natural light to reach the connected garage below and facilitates the flow of cool air into the living space during summer. Through the simple operation of raising the floor, the project establishes a three-dimensional relationship between the garden and the lower level.
