Kobu is a new business venture of “Kassen Takehana,” a private Kaiseki restaurant in Maebashi City, and is a dining bar serving wood-fired grill cuisine. We designed two spaces with different targets: the main dining area with counter seats arranged around the wood-fired oven, and a private members-only room with an exclusive entrance in the backyard. In the dining area, the entire space is set up in a dark gray tone to draw the eye toward the wood-fired oven and to make the flame stands out. A wine cellar is placed in one corner of the space so that guests can enjoy both food and drinks at the same time. The members-only private room is designed to be a warm space using warm-colored materials, giving it a different impression from the dining area.
