A renovation of a first-floor apartment in Yoyogi-uehara, designed to highlight the beauty of its lush garden. To make the most of this outdoor connection, we joined two rooms facing the garden to create a large living area. We introduced window-sill fixtures to expand the functionality of the perimeter and installed curtain boxes that double as shelving. By finishing the floor along the garden boundary with tiles, we unified the windows—which were originally different in shape and position—into a cohesive and enriched space. The choice of glossy marble mosaic tiles, color-matched to the garden’s existing tiling, establishes a visual link with the outdoors while reflecting natural light deep into the room.
