A renovation of an apartment in Shimouma, Setagaya. The design focuses on creating a sense of openness and a circular flow within a limited area to maximize the feeling of space. By placing the living area and bedroom adjacent to each other and separating them with a one-meter-high partition wall, we maintained the spaciousness of the living area while securing privacy for the bedroom. The finish of this wall is distinct from other elements and extends continuously toward the entrance. The hallway connecting the entrance and the living area features a wide opening and is finished with glossy tiles to lead natural light deep into the unit. We integrated the wall-mounted shelf pilasters into the tile joints, achieving functional flexibility without compromising the design aesthetic.
