While the second-floor restaurant shares a similar spatial layout, it is designed as a calmer environment for longer stays. We used contrasting finishes and color palettes to distinguish it from the more active first floor. The dining tables are secured with draw latches, allowing them to be easily reconfigured for different settings, such as standing areas or raised platform seating.Located in Kiryu, Gunma, this brewery and restaurant faces the Kiryu Tenmangu Shrine, a prime location for viewing cherry blossoms in spring. To frame these views for guests and allow passersby to see the brewing process and dining area, we installed large new openings along the street. On the first floor, which houses the brewery and tap bar, we minimized the backyard space to maximize the seating area. The brewing volume was determined by the precise dimensions of the fermentation tanks and equipment, designed to protrude into the guest area. By detaching this new volume from the existing steel ceiling, we created a sense of depth and openness within the space.
