This cafe, operated by the same company and adjacent to Takanawa SAUNAS, is open to everyone without requiring entry to the sauna facility itself. It was planned both as a gateway leading into the sauna facility and as a space that gently connects the retreat experience with the surrounding bustling commercial complex.Light blue tiles and oak wood serve as the primary materials, incorporating elements reminiscent of baths and saunas, such as tiered benches and border-tiled floors. The fixtures, including the counters and tables, are unified under the same design language as Takanawa SAUNAS. Furthermore, by designing the layout and traffic lines so that staff and the kitchen can be shared with SAUNAS, we achieved both operational efficiency and a seamless sense of unity throughout the entire establishment. The service counter, in particular, was designed with continuity to the sauna-side reception counter in mind; by using the same materials for the side and top panels while changing the color scheme, we maintained a sense of connection while giving the cafe its own distinct character. The symbolic spiral linear lighting in the space is a custom-made fixture inspired by ripples spreading across the water’s surface. We aimed to create a space that serves as the gateway to this urban retreat facility—a place that captures the sense of anticipation before the retreat experience and the lingering afterglow afterward, while gently easing guests back into their daily lives.
