条例により敷地境界からのセットバックと一定面積の緑化が義務づけられている住宅街に建つ木造住宅である。前面道路は幅員4mの通り抜け不可の私道であるが、条例のセットバックと緑化により周囲の住宅とは親密な距離をもって共存できる敷地である。その一方で、セットバック義務と駐車場や庭など必要とされる外部を考慮すると求められる諸室に対して建築可能なフットプリントは十分ではない。半ば自動的に地下とロフトが収納に割り当てられ、縦の動線を行き来しながら生活する計画となった。ヴォリュームは３つのブロックに雁行させ、前面道路側を駐車場として、その反対側を庭として、それぞれにまとまった外部を確保した。中央のブロックには大きな開口がある階段室と吹き抜けを設け、周辺に対して親密な距離で縦に展開される生活をつないでいる。それぞれの個室は閉じた部屋とならないよう大開口の引き戸や大きなガラスで分節し、隣地の隙間を狙った開口により面積以上の広がりを得ている。階高が高いホールのような1階と階高を低くした2階が縦の生活動線にコントラストをもたらし都市住宅で住む喜びを喚起している。

 

Set within a residential district governed by strict setback and greening mandates, this wooden residence navigates the balance between urban regulation and domestic intimacy. Although fronted by a narrow, four-meter-wide private road, the required setbacks and greenery allow the house to coexist at an approachable distance from its neighbors. Due to these constraints and the need to accommodate a garden and parking, the buildable footprint was significantly limited relative to the required program. This necessitated a vertical layout, with the basement and loft designated for storage, creating a lifestyle that unfolds across multiple levels. The building volume is composed of three staggered blocks, strategically positioned to secure consolidated outdoor spaces: a parking area on the street side and a private garden on the opposite. The central block serves as the heart of the home, featuring a staircase and a double-height atrium with expansive openings that unify the vertical progression of daily life. To prevent individual rooms from feeling enclosed, large-scale sliding doors and glass partitions were utilized, while windows were precisely aligned with gaps in the surrounding neighborhood to create a sense of spaciousness that exceeds the actual floor area. The contrast between the high-ceilinged, hall-like first floor and the more intimate second floor brings a rhythmic vitality to the vertical circulation, evoking the true joy of urban living.
